How a glitchy controller started a trend
I see my son capturing videos, and now wants to have an Instagram/YouTube account for his Fortnite adventures.
I have updated this article. Initially, I thought it was a Fortnite update that caused the screenshot button to record a 7 second video clip instead of taking a screenshot. However, after cleaning my controller, I realized it was a sticky key issue wiht my controller.
Yes! I dabble in Fortnite, after my son started playing about a year ago. I'm in no way a good player - like I said; I dabble! Most of my time is spent hiding and running away or be a backup (literally) to my son.
Every once in a while my strategy pays off. And when it does we have this habit of taking a screenshot on a victory royale win.
Last week Fortnite release an update. Nothing out of the ordinary; new tasks, some new options in armor and new skins. And in all this chaos, my controller developed a glitch which made me think that Fortnite sneaked in a twisted update. On the Xbox, PlayStation and Switch, there is a dedicated button to take screenshots. On my Xbox controller, it no longer took a screenshot; instead it now takes a 7 second video. It was annoying at first and I went through all possible console settings to see if I changed something or if my son did. Nada.
At first this was annoying. My OCD kicked in and I tried all possible things to go back to how things were and after a week I simply gave up.
But, now watching those 7 second clips, I have come to like this and all this while I thought it was an update. Apparently my contorller had a sticky key issue.
I see my son capturing videos, and now wants to have an Instagram/YouTube account for his Fortnite adventures. Don't blame me if I do.
